Override Request Process
A student may need an override to get into a class for either of two reasons: (1) the class is closed or (2) the student does not satisfy the prerequisite as it is entered in the registration system.
- Closed (filled) classes
There is override request form on the CS web page that students can use to request an override into a class that is closed. This form is ONLY for requests to get into closed (filled) classes. - Waiving prerequisites
Students that need overrides to waive a prerequisite should see the course's instructor. Normally, prerequisites are NOT waived except for exceptional circumstances. Because of problems with the registration system, handling these prerequisites waivers is a real pain. Faculty that have a student seeking a waiver of the prerequisite, should follow the following procedure. - a. Log onto E-campus and see if the section the student wants to get into is closed. If not, send an email to Carol with the student's name and the course number and section. Have the student see Carol. The student will have 1 day to register for the class. You should only do this for 1 or 2 students a day. If you do this for a bunch of students at once, you could end up with more students in your class than the room can handle.
- b. If the class is closed, have the student fill out the web based override request form. Send the email about waiving the prerequsite to the undergraduate coordinator instead of to Carol.
