Computer Facilities

The department makes extensive use of university and departmental computing facilities. The JMU Office of Information Technology provides a variety of micro-computer laboratories, a cluster of VAX mini-computers, a Media Technology Laboratory, and a campus network that is connected to the Internet.

The department maintains its own Numerical and Graphical Applications Laboratory, Advanced Systems and Networking Laboratory, Visualization Laboratory, Systems Laboratory, and Advanced Teaching Laboratory. These laboratories contain a wide variety of hardware and software platforms that are constantly being updated to keep pace with current technology. All department laboratories are linked to the campus network.

Placement Services

The Career Planning and Placement Office is available to assist students in developing effective job-search skills and contacting prospective employers. Their services and programs include job search workshops, career days, practice interview sessions, job listings, and on-campus recruiting. More than 250 business, industry and government organizations recruit regularly on the JMU campus.
